America x Reader: My Secret Identity CH1

___ circled the article from the newspaper with a bright red marker before neatly folding the newspaper again and put it under her arm. She then put on her shoes and jacket, grabbed the bag sat in a corner of the hallway and turned around to look at the empty aparnment for one last time before she stepped out of the apartment and closed the door after her. Her taxi waited for her and she stepped in.

”7th street. I’ll say when to stop.” She said to the cabby and he nodded in reply.

”Sure thing, m’am.”

___ watched as the many streets and roads of Washington passed by her window on her way to 7th street where her new home would be located. She had found a notice about an open spot for a roommate a few weeks earlier and had called the very same day.

The man who owned the apartment was someone called Alfred Jones and seemed to be overjoyed that a woman wanted to be his roommate.

___ just wanted a new place to live before the police found her out. And this was the perfect opertunity. This ’Alfred’ guy couldn’t be too bad, could he?

The taxi finally arrived at your destination and the young woman payed the taxidriver and stepped out of the taxi.

She stopped outside one of the tall buildings and looked at the different names on the small peices of paper right outside the door.

”Arthur Kirkland, Ludwig and Gilbert Beilschmidt, Kiku Honda, Ivan Braginski… Ah! There it is: Alfred Jones.” ___ mumbled as she searched for the right name. She then pressed the button and waited.

Half a minute or so later a bell sounded and a male voice called out. ”Alfred Jones here, who is this?”

”___ ____, your new roommate.” ___ said.

”Oh, dudette! I didn’t know you’d be coming this early, I just woke up!” He replied with a surprised tone to his voice, he then laughed awkwardly.

”… It’s one in the afternoon…” ___ said after a few seconds of awkward silence.

”Yeah…?” Alfred replied.
___ sighed. ”Nevermind… Could you open the door, please?”

Alfred laughed at this. ”Of course, dudette!” He then laughed obnoxiously as a new bell sounded and a clicking noise was heard; indicating that the door was now unlocked.

___ sighed as she opened the door and walked inside the building, hoping that Alfred wouldn’t be too obnoxius to share an apartment with.
